Baby, it's cold outside

As the days get colder and brisker I find myself altering things in my daily routine so that they better suite the wintery climate. These changes happen in my skin care routine, clothing choices and food choices and I have selected the ones I think could benefit you this winter.

Moisturise Everything!!

I do not exaggerate when I say this; do not leave any slab of skin untouched by the majestic qualities of a moisturiser (okay, I’m exaggerating a tad). But seriously as the days get colder your skin becomes quenched especially when it’s windy as the wind sheds your skin of their natural lipids. Your natural lipids are important as they are the barrier in which prevent your skin from drying out so its nice to care for them. Moisturiser solves this issue as they work by locking water into your skin's top layer, so it is better to apply after bathing, while skin is still damp.
Cetaphil Moisturiser:
My favourite moisturiser to use is the ‘Cetaphil Moisturising Lotion’ as I have sensitive skin and this trusty bottle contains a gentle fluid that to some may find too runny but I personally like that as it then isn’t too heavy. This product also promises to enhance “the skin’s natural moisture-protection system and helps restore the skin’s natural protective barrier” which is what you need during the winter time. Plus you can use this all over your body: moisturising and multipurpose!

Warm and Stylish!!

I have to admit I am one who almost always choses comfort over style (which is not a bad thing might I add!) as it makes me comfortable on the inside as well as the outside. However during the winter months I see myself doing this more frequently and more tackily, if you will. Therefore to assure that I stay warm and comfy this winter I have gone on a hunt for some cute items in which will help give my outfits that little push that will show I have made a bit of effort.
Remember those socks you used to wear to Primary School? The ones with the frills and by year 4 you were telling your mum how embarrassing it was to still be wearing them? Well beg you mum to buy them again! I have a new found love for these socks, much more love towards them than the High School Musical socks that I previously ditched them for. I think when wearing toasty warm boots they are the perfect accessory to glamourise them not to mention they keep your feet extra warm when wearing tights! Almost every clothing store sells them now days so you can either splurge a bit at Topshop or stick to a budget at Primark, the choice is yours!

Another item that has been staple in my winter wardrobe has been my coat. Previously my coat had just been a barrier from the sharp cold surrounding me whenever i stepped outside my door but now it is so much more! I have recently so many pretty coats around ranging from different colours, lengths and fits that I had to buy just one… so I did. My coat now has been the centre piece to all my outfits: its daring colour of robin egg blue has brought some colour into my dull winter wardrobe and I love it. The advantage of this, of course, is that your coat is part of your outfit therefore there is no need to remove it as it is now a part of something. So now you can be extra warm whilst looking cute!

Make - Up

Finally, as the colder months approach I find myself with red cheeks and the tip of my nose looks like a pink button so I tend to steer clear of harsh pink blushes that would usually give me that flush I lack. This is because I find that if I have both redden cheeks and a rosy blush on I resemble Rudolf's nose and that isn't the look I'm going for!!
So the blush I tend to reach for is Benefits 'dandelion' blush because it is very subtle baby pink. It just adds that little bit of brightness to your face and makes you look more fresh during the day, without making you look like a tomato. The colour itself has some shimmer to it so when your cheeks turn that scarlet colour, due to the cold, it makes it look magical as if you've just walked of Narnia!
